Are you ready for a Root Awakening?

Grassroots United begins activity in Bloomington

By Scott Tibbs

A new political organization has arrived in Monroe County, looking to be a bridge to government for the people. It is Grassroots United.

According to Root Awakening, Grassroots United's mission will be three-fold: to inform people about the issues, train them how to be effective leaders, and involve them in the political process and/or party of choice. While Grassroots United is nonpartisan, it will be issue-oriented, according to GU Chairman Bill Adams. GU will be concerned with issues that affect families in a negative manner, and help them have a voice in the matter. One of the reasons people are frustrated with politics, Adams said, is they feel they do not have a voice with their elected officials, and Grassroots United hopes to be a bridge to the government for them.

Grassroots United will hold its first meeting on October 20, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. at Twin Lakes Park Community Building on West 2nd Street in Bloomington. Jim Pfaff, former Executive Director of the Indiana Family Institute, will be the keynote speaker.
